The Australian Pipelines and Gas Association (APGA) congratulates Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and the Labor Party on their re-election and looks forward to working constructively with the Federal Government to deliver an energy system that is fair, affordable, and built to meet the challenges of the energy transition.
APGA chief executive Steve Davies said the election result was a mandate for more – more renewables to meet our climate goals, more domestic gas supply to firm the grid and deliver affordable, reliable energy for homes, small businesses and industry, and more opportunity for Australia’s energy-intensive sectors and regional communities to share in the benefits of the energy transition and broader economic transformation.
“As we enter a period of heightened geopolitical uncertainty, Australia’s energy security, economic resilience and industrial competitiveness are more important than ever,” Mr Davies said.
“What matters now is building a resilient, least-cost system that supports all technologies to play their roles. That means backing firm capacity, fast-tracking renewable gas, and giving industry the confidence to invest.”
“Now is the time to invest in new infrastructure, in emerging technologies, and in a smarter, more equitable policy framework that keeps energy reliable and affordable throughout the transition.”
Gas infrastructure continues to underpin system reliability and industrial competitiveness. The sector is also investing directly in renewable gas production and supply. From biomethane to green hydrogen, APGA members are delivering practical solutions to decarbonise industry and support the energy transition.
APGA will continue to champion a balanced, evidence-based approach to energy policy — one that delivers emission reductions while strengthening system reliability, economic resilience and consumer choice. We look forward to working closely with the Federal Government to shape the next phase of reform and ensure Australia’s energy transition delivers practical outcomes for households, industry and the economy.
