For the first time since 2018, the APGA Convention and Exhibition is returning to Darwin.
From 5–8 September 2026, our industry will gather at the Darwin Convention Centre for four days of technical insight, business development, networking and connection. The Convention remains the pipeline and gas sector’s annual focal point—a place to share knowledge, strengthen relationships and engage with people from across the industry.
But this year, the experience does not need to begin and end at the Convention Centre.
For many delegates, attending Convention involves travelling a considerable distance. Darwin presents a rare opportunity to turn that journey into something more: arrive a few days early, stay on after the Convention, or build some time into your schedule to experience the city with colleagues, clients, friends or family.
Darwin combines a relaxed tropical atmosphere with a distinctive mix of cultures, food, history, wildlife and outdoor adventure. A spare afternoon could be spent exploring the Darwin Waterfront, visiting a museum or gallery, experiencing the local food scene or watching the sun set over the harbour. With more time, the wider Top End opens up through national parks, waterfalls, wetlands, wildlife encounters, fishing trips, scenic flights and Aboriginal cultural experiences.
Whether you prefer an active adventure or a slower afternoon by the water, there are options to suit almost every itinerary.
Some of the most valuable Convention conversations happen outside the formal program.
Exploring Darwin together provides another opportunity to connect with people from across the industry in a more relaxed setting. Organise a small team activity, invite a client to join you for dinner, meet colleagues at the waterfront or plan a shared experience before everyone returns home.
You might explore the city’s multicultural dining scene, visit the Mindil Beach Sunset Market, take a cruise on Darwin Harbour or arrange a day trip beyond the city. For those seeking something less conventional, the Top End also offers crocodile encounters, fishing adventures, scenic flights and guided wildlife experiences.
It is an opportunity to strengthen professional relationships while experiencing a part of Australia that many delegates may not visit regularly.
To help APGA delegates make the most of their visit, Tourism Top End has created a dedicated APGA Convention and Exhibition visitor page.
Tourism Top End also provides a free local booking service, offering personalised recommendations and assistance with accommodation, tours, attractions, dining and pre- or post-Convention itineraries. Their local team can help you identify experiences suited to the time available, whether that is a few hours between activities or several additional days exploring the region.
Delegates can also visit the Top End Visitor Information Centre at 6 Bennett Street, Darwin, for local advice and booking assistance during their stay.
The APGA Convention and Exhibition will once again bring our industry together for its most important annual gathering. This year, it also provides the opportunity to experience one of Australia’s most distinctive destinations.
Take an extra day. Organise an activity with your team. Continue a Convention conversation over dinner. Explore somewhere new.
