Competency descriptor
This competency requires a pipeline engineer to have a comprehensive knowledge of pipe coatings and their role in protecting pipelines that will be used to ensure most appropriate design and operation of pipelines and related facilities.
Competency application
This competency enables a pipeline engineer to determine which coatings should be selected for the design and environmental conditions, how they should be specified and how they should be applied and inspected. It will also enable a pipeline engineer to respond to coating defect assessments, and specify appropriate repairs and maintenance requirements.
Prerequisites
CC001 – Corrosion control fundamentals
