Carbon capture and storage method: proposed new method under the Emissions Reduction Fund

Written by APGA | Jul 21, 2021 3:27:00 AM

The Australian Pipelines and Gas Association (APGA) represents the owners, operators, designers, constructors and service providers of Australia’s pipeline infrastructure, with a focus on high-pressure gas transmission. APGA’s members build, own and operate the gas transmission infrastructure connecting the disparate gas supply basins and demand centres of Australia, offering a wide range of services to gas producers, retailers and users. The skills, expertise and experience of the Australian gas transmission industry will be critical in delivering the transportation and storage infrastructure of the carbon capture and storage (CCS) industry.

APGA welcomes the opportunity to contribute to the CCS method: proposed new method under the Emissions Reduction Fund.

APGA are generally supportive of the approach taken by the Clean Energy Regulator in developing the proposed methodology and look forward to its progressive development over the years to come.

CCS is not a core area of expertise for APGA. As such, APGA recommends the Department consider the advice from the CO2CRC to this consultation. The extensive experience and ties to global expertise held by the CO2CRC make it best placed to advise on the direction that should be taken in this Emissions Reduction Framework Methodology.

Yours sincerely
