APGA Event Code of Conduct

Event Code of Conduct - Australian Pipeline and Gas Association

At the Australian Pipeline and Gas Association (APGA), we are dedicated to creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment at all our events. We value the contributions of all participants and strive to provide an experience that promotes professional growth, collaboration, and learning. To uphold these standards, we have developed the following Event Code of Conduct based on Australian and international best practices.

1. Inclusivity and Respect

All participants, including attendees, speakers, sponsors, volunteers, and staff, are expected to treat each other with respect and consideration. Discriminatory, offensive, or harassing behaviour, including but not limited to that based on race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, age, or sexual orientation, will not be tolerated.

Example: Engaging in a respectful dialogue during Q&A sessions by listening to diverse perspectives and avoiding dismissive comments.

2. Professional Behaviour

Participants are expected to engage in professional and courteous behaviour throughout the event. This includes refraining from disruptive conduct that interferes with others' ability to participate or enjoy the event.

Example: Avoiding loud or disruptive behaviour that distracts from the speaker's presentation and the audience's experience.

3. Harassment-Free Environment

APGA events are harassment-free zones. Harassment in any form—verbal, written, visual, or physical—will not be tolerated. This includes offensive comments, jokes, images, unwelcome advances, or any inappropriate physical contact. If you feel harassed or witness harassment, please report it immediately to event staff.

Example: Making inappropriate comments about a person's appearance or personal life during networking sessions, or engaging in unwelcome physical contact such as touching or blocking someone's path.

4. Inclusive Language

Participants are encouraged to use inclusive and appropriate language during all event activities, including presentations, discussions, and interactions. Use of offensive or exclusionary language is inconsistent with the respectful atmosphere we aim to create.

5. Respect for Diversity

APGA events bring together diverse perspectives and backgrounds. Participants are expected to be mindful of these differences and engage in constructive conversations that foster understanding and collaboration. Example: Engaging in a discussion about energy policies while considering the various economic, environmental, and social factors at play.

6. Reporting Incidents

If you experience or witness behaviour that violates this Code of Conduct, please report it promptly to event staff or organizers. Reports can be made in person or via provided contact information. All reports will be kept confidential and will be addressed promptly and appropriately.

7. Consequences of Violation

If a participant is found to have violated this Code of Conduct, APGA reserves the right to take necessary actions, including, but not limited to, issuing warnings, expelling the participant from the event without refund, and banning the participant from future APGA events.

8. Event Specifics

Each event may have additional guidelines or rules specific to its format and activities. Participants are expected to adhere to these guidelines as communicated by event staff.

9. Feedback and Questions

APGA welcomes feedback and questions regarding this Code of Conduct and its implementation. If you have any concerns or inquiries, please contact us at apga@apga.org.au. By participating in APGA events, participants acknowledge and agree to abide by this Event Code of Conduct.
