MID WEST PIPELINE

Moomba to Adelaide Pipeline System (MAPS)

The Moomba to Adelaide Pipeline System (MAPS) is a 1184km system of gas transmission pipelines operating across eastern South Australia. It is owned and operated by Epic Energy South Australia Pty Ltd.

MAPS was constructed in 1969 and was acquired by Epic Energy from APA Group in 2013. The MAPS mainline extends from the Moomba processing plant in NE South Australia to Adelaide. It also comprises two major lateral pipelines – one to the regional centres of Port Pirie and Whyalla and the other to Angaston.

MAPS transports gas south from conventional gas fields in the Cooper Basin and – since the completion of the QSN Link in 2008 (an extension of the South West Queensland Pipeline which connects to MAPS at Moomba) – can also transport gas sourced from conventional and coal seam gas fields in Queensland’s Bowen-Surat Basin. There is also an interconnection between MAPS and the SEA Gas pipeline which enables MAPS to receive gas from SEA Gas.

MAPS is a non-scheme pipeline under Part 23 of the NGR.
