Event Focus: Improving Modular Gas Compression Facility Delivery
As Australia transitions toward a net zero emissions future, natural gas continues to play an important role in supporting households, industry, and the electricity sector—particularly during peak demand. However, with supply shortfalls forecast and increasing pressure for faster infrastructure delivery, project teams are rethinking the way gas compression facilities are designed, constructed, and commissioned.
This technical presentation will explore:
-
How modular compression facility delivery models have evolved across multiple coal seam gas projects
-
Real-world case studies demonstrating how project teams have streamlined structures and enhanced collaboration across design, construction, and commissioning
-
The efficiency gains, risk reductions, and improved agility achieved through these approaches
-
How these methodologies can be applied to other infrastructure and process facility contexts, delivering benefits beyond gas projects
Featured Speaker
Brian McDonough – Senior Project Engineer, GPA Engineering
A proud Territorian, Brian McDonough studied at Charles Darwin University before embarking on a career that has taken him across Australia, working on a wide range of energy infrastructure projects. His experience spans hydrogen, power generation and networks, LNG facilities, and pipelines, covering the full lifecycle from design through to commissioning and operation.
Now a Senior Project Engineer with GPA Engineering, Brian specialises in ensuring projects successfully transition from concept to commercialisation, leveraging his deep knowledge of compliance, regulatory requirements, and practical project delivery. With first-hand experience in overcoming complex challenges, Brian brings unique insights into how modular approaches are shaping the next generation of energy projects.
